Thanksgiving

Perhaps one of the most nonsensical places I know is the male teenage psyche. Like any mind, it differs relatively between subjects. However, there is a sadly a common element in all of them, however differing in concentration: immaturity and low self-esteem.
There are, of course, cases where there is very little of these present, but it's always there. One of the most infuriating cases of such a high concentration is when a lack of skill or understanding is compensated with ridicule and rejection. It makes it hard to be the better person when a guy starts doing that to you.

This time, I wasn't.

Suicide

How would it be to witness someone commit suicide? I know someone who told me he remembered being on his way with his mother to Godfather's Pizza, and he was excited about the dessert pizza buffet. When he looked out of the car's window, he saw a woman jump off of a building. He was seven.
What a slap in the face to a child who shouldn't be thinking about anything else besides Power Rangers and Hotwheels. What a traumatizing spectre. What would you do after witnessing that? Cry? Ask why? How would you regard life and death after that? The discussion with parents about mortality must have been premature.
It's sad that they have to install emergency telephones for people to report jumps in places where such things happen all too often. It always manages to take people by surprise, even just a little. It's never expected.
It's never okay that we live in a world where people take their own lives because they can't handle the overwhelming feelings of despair in and around them. It's never okay that we aren't perturbed whenever we hear about another person killing themself. It's never okay that we don't do things to help.
It's never okay to look in the face of suicide and regard it as unimportant or mundane.
